Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center Expansion of Services on Kauaʻi

At the end of January 2026, Mālama Pono, a trusted provider that has served the Kauaʻi community for more than 40 years, concluded its client-facing operations on the island.  The Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center (HHHRC) affirms its commitment to ensuring continuity of care through a permanent expansion of services on Kauaʻi.

In partnership with the Hawaiʻi Department of Health (DOH) and Mālama Pono’s leadership, HHHRC has finalized plans to establish a satellite office on Kauaʻi, supporting a stable and thoughtful transition for the community. Mālama Pono has been a beacon of care and advocacy on Kauaʻi for four decades. HHHRC honors that legacy and is committed to ensuring that no one experiences a gap in life-saving care during this transition. HHHRC looks forward to continuing this work in close partnership with the Kauaʻi community.

Beginning February 2, 2026, HHHRC’s Kauaʻi office will provide uninterrupted access to essential services, including:

  • Medical case management for people living with HIV

  • Gender-affirming care and peer support through telehealth services

  • Triage and linkage for HIV, STI and hepatitis C testing

  • Coordination and referrals to additional health and social services

Former Mālama Pono clients and individuals seeking services beginning February 2 are encouraged to contact Melisse Camelo HHHRC’s Kaua’i Service Coordinator at 808-864-5587.

For more information about HHHRC’s Kaua’i Office, contact Executive Director Heather Lusk at 808-521-2437.
