H3RC Executive Director Heather Lusk with Mayor Derek Kawakami during H3RC's Kauaʻi Open House celebration.
It was a weekend of celebration, connection, and community as H3RC officially opened its new Kauaʻi office and joined hundreds of residents for Kauaʻi Pride.
The festivities began on Friday as nearly 100 community members, partners, elected officials, and supporters gathered for an Open House at H3RC's new Līhuʻe office. The event marked an important milestone in H3RC's expansion to Kauaʻi following the closure of Mālama Pono Health Services earlier this year.
Guests were welcomed with a traditional Hawaiian blessing before touring the new office and learning about the services now available on the island, including HIV support services, sexual health programs, overdose prevention resources, and gender affirming care.
Among those in attendance were Mayor Derek Kawakami, Dr. Diane Felton, Chief of the Communicable Disease and Public Health Nursing Division, and David Peters, Chief Executive Officer of Hoʻōla Lāhui Hawaiʻi, whose presence reflected the strong community support behind H3RC's efforts to expand access to care on Kauaʻi.

The celebration continued the following day as H3RC proudly participated in Kauaʻi Pride, joining hundreds of community members for a day of visibility, connection, and joy. Throughout the festival, staff shared information about available services, connected with community members, and celebrated the strength and resilience of Kauaʻi's LGBTQIA+ community.
For H3RC, the weekend represented more than the opening of a new office. It marked the beginning of a new chapter in our commitment to ensuring that individuals on Kauaʻi have access to the care, support, and resources they deserve close to home.
To everyone who attended the Open House, stopped by our Pride booth, or welcomed us into the community, mahalo. Your support reminds us that when communities come together, we can build a healthier, more connected Hawaiʻi for all.
We are honored to be part of the Kauaʻi community and look forward to serving the island for years to come.
