H3RC was thrilled to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand, an iconic establishment that has been a pillar of support and joy for Hawaiʻi’s LGBTQIA+ community. For five decades, Hula’s has not only provided a welcoming and vibrant space for all but has also played a significant role in fostering inclusivity and acceptance within our community.
This celebration would not be complete without acknowledging the incredible contributions of Hula’s owner and founder, Jack Law. Jack’s unwavering dedication and philanthropic efforts have profoundly impacted countless lives, particularly those living with HIV. Through his tireless advocacy and generous support, Jack has championed numerous initiatives to improve the quality of life and ensure equal rights for all.
In the 1980s, Hula’s hosted some of the first fundraisers for the Life Foundation, marking the beginning of a long-standing commitment to supporting those affected by HIV. These early efforts were crucial in raising awareness and funds when resources and support were desperately needed. Jack Law’s leadership in these initiatives helped pave the way for ongoing support and advocacy in our community.
As we celebrate this incredible milestone, we thank Jack Law for his remarkable contributions. Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand is a testament to his vision, perseverance, and love for our community. Here’s to 50 years of cherished memories and many more of creating new ones.
Congratulations, Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand, and thank you, Jack Law, for all you have done and continue to do for Hawaiʻi’s LGBTQIA+ community and those living with HIV. Your legacy of kindness and generosity inspires us all.
