Strong organizations are built by strong communities, and strong communities are built by people willing to step forward and lead.
As H3RC continues to expand services, respond to emerging public health challenges, and advocate for some of Hawaiʻi's most vulnerable communities, we are proud to welcome four new members to our Board of Directors: David Lammay, Bianca Isaki, Melanie Moore, and Avery Aetonu.
Each brings a unique combination of lived experience, professional expertise, and a deep commitment to building a healthier, more equitable Hawaiʻi.
Avery Aetonu
Avery brings both lived experience and frontline public health expertise to the board. As a Patient Community Navigator at The Queen's Medical Center, he works directly with individuals experiencing homelessness and other complex challenges, helping connect them to critical services and support.
His background includes community health, care coordination, health equity initiatives, and collaboration across Hawaiʻi's continuum of care. Avery's personal experiences and professional work have given him a deep understanding of the barriers many community members face, as well as the importance of compassionate, community-centered solutions.
Bianca Isaki
An attorney, educator, and community organizer, Bianca brings extensive experience in advocacy, public policy, and nonprofit leadership. Her work has connected her with communities across Hawaiʻi working toward justice, equity, and systems change.
Bianca has served in leadership roles with numerous nonprofit organizations and community initiatives throughout the state. She joins H3RC with a passion for building connections between communities and strengthening collective efforts to create a safer, more just Hawaiʻi for all.
David Lammay
David brings more than two decades of experience in finance, operations, and compliance through his career with Bank of Hawaiʻi. Beyond his professional expertise, David has been a visible advocate for LGBTQIA+ inclusion through his leadership as co-chair of RainBOH, Bank of Hawaiʻi's employee resource group.
His experience serving on the Windward Boys & Girls Club board and as treasurer of his homeowners association reflects a commitment to responsible stewardship, community engagement, and service. David joins the board eager to support H3RC's mission through strategic leadership, financial oversight, and hands-on community involvement.
Melanie Moore
Melanie may be a familiar face to many in the H3RC ʻohana. One of her first positions after moving to Hawaiʻi was with Life Foundation, one of the organizations that would later become part of H3RC.
Today, Melanie serves as president of Kokua Communications, where she helps nonprofit organizations strengthen their impact through strategic planning, fundraising, grant writing, and donor development. With more than 25 years of experience supporting Hawaiʻi's nonprofit sector, Melanie brings invaluable expertise in resource development and organizational growth.
Looking Ahead
Our Board of Directors plays a critical role in guiding H3RC's mission, ensuring organizational sustainability, and helping us remain responsive to the evolving needs of our communities.
The addition of Avery, Bianca, David, and Melanie strengthens our collective expertise in finance, governance, fundraising, advocacy, public health, and community engagement. More importantly, each shares a commitment to creating a Hawaiʻi where every person can access the care, support, and dignity they deserve.
Please join us in welcoming these four outstanding leaders to the H3RC ʻohana. We are excited for the knowledge, passion, and vision they bring to our organization and look forward to the impact we will make together.
