On October 1, 2024, the Mayor of Honolulu raised the Pride flag at Honolulu Hale, officially marking the start of LGBTQIA+ Pride celebrations in the city. The ceremony was attended by community leaders, city officials, and advocates, including Heather Lusk, Executive Director of Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center (HHHRC), and Andrew Ogata, HHHRC’s Director of Marketing.

The event underscored the city’s commitment to recognizing and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, which contributes to the diversity and vibrancy of Honolulu. The Pride flag flying over Honolulu Hale served as a visible symbol of inclusion, respect, and the city's ongoing dedication to equality for all residents.

Throughout the month, Honolulu Pride celebrations organized by local groups brought the community together with events aimed at fostering awareness, pride, and a sense of belonging for all. The Pride flag at Honolulu Hale stood as a reminder of the city’s support and commitment to a more inclusive future.
